Azaleas, Oaks, and Evergreens?





We lost a 1st year transplanted Maple and 2 azaleas from our summer drought. Should I wait until spring to replace them or transplant in November (Zone 7) - SouthwestArkansas?

Either way. If you replant now, be sure to add Root stimulator at planting and monthly fertilize (epsom salts for azalea) during the winter to give them a good start.





Or wait until last frost in spring as mentioned. Stim when planting, Fertiliome makes a very good product. Azaleas will root on the ground, lay a branch down, weight with a brick...

Reply:Wait until the last frost this spring. If you plant it before then, it will likely die in the winter weather as you will not be able to keep it watered for fear of freezing the roots. After you plant in the spring, if you find out that it will freeze again, you can throw a sheet over the branch part of it which will keep the frost off and the tree warm while still allowing it to breath.
Reply:I always prefer to plant shrubs %26amp; trees in the spring, that way it gives them all year to get their root system growing. But they a lot of nurseries will plant late in the year when the plants go dormant and have no problem in the spring. Guess that really didn%26#039;t help much did it?
